This is not new information, but a reminder for the DIYer out there. Swapping ECM's and modules for the at-home troubleshooter will be painfully problematic and probably expensive. This applies to select 2010 to 2013 model years and all 2014 (Corvette) and newer GM vehicles. See attached Tech Tip notice.

Thanks for posting this, Chris. I notice the February 2019 date on the Tech Tip and how the advice is applied through to 2019 model years. I suppose we should assume the scope of this tip would now extend thru to current (2024) model years as well. Agree?Don Lowe

Yes, I agree Don. The original Global Electrical System is referred to as Global A Architecture, GM now currently has upgraded to Global B Architecture. My question is, doesn't this violate the "Right to Repair" law by making repairs a GM Dealer only option?- Top
