Flocked bucket above jack question -- earlier C3's

jack bucket (3).jpg Regarding the flocked buckets about the jack--I have several buckets on which the rear vertical portion at the top has no horizontal lip, and I have several that do have a horizontal lip that is identical to the lip on the other three sides. Otherwise they are the same--depth, etc. Anyone know why there is a difference? Running change? Two different manufacturers? Any help is appreciated.
The first pic is of the rear vertical with lip, the second is of the vertical without lip.

My 1970, July 6th build, does not have a lip and does not have an ink stamped date.
I know where an early 70 is, and I'll look at it tomorrow.

The cover used for 1968 was GM #3936303. This is the cover with lips on all 4 sides. I believe this cover was used for part of 1969 even though this is not recorded in the 1969 AIM. The cover used for at least part of 1969 was the GM #3963114. This is the cover with lips on only 3 sides, the rear side being devoid of the lip. My original owner, September, 1969 built 69 was built with this cover which is dated 8/04/69. I do not know just when this cover's use in PRODUCTION began. However, based on the part number I'd opine that it was very late in 1969. The 3963114 was also used for 1970-73.

The 3936303 was discontinued from SERVICE in August, 1971 (probably when its GMSPO inventory ran out) and was at that time replaced by the GM #3963114.

By the way, I can only see one of your photos and even that one does not show the entirety of the cover. However, you mention that the 2 different covers differ only by the presence or absence of the rear lip. Actually, the 3936303 has no vertical "channel" beneath the front notch. The 3963114 has a vertical "channel" on the front below the notch and the width of the notch.

        image0 2.jpegHeres a question.
My July 69 car has shoulder belts. And since the retractor sit behind the jack door, the door is restricted in being able to open fully so I can remove the bucket. Would a three side lipped bucket be able to be removed because of this? im thinking maybe. Right now the only way I can get my 4 sided bucket in is to loosen the retractor and swivel it out of the way.
        Anyone....

Philip, does your box have a date ink stamped on it?
I have a very original 24k mile 1969 convertible, both tops, no shoulder belts, here at the house. K09 (June 9th) build, it has the three sided lip box, no date ink stamped on the box.
Terry McManmon's 1970 (January 29th build) also has the three sided lip on the box.
