    1976 Sunvisor Labels

There are several listed in the 75-77 JG that needs some clarification:

In 1976 the Engine Starting Procedure label appears to be reduced in size to 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" and its glued to the Passenger side visor. Location is is questionable.
Have not seen any reproduced in that smaller size, unless someone is reproducing them.

In 75-76 a warning label "Do Not Tow" for Manual transmission cars is glued to the Drivers side visor.
And in 75-76 a Catalytic Converter warning label is glued to the drivers side visor as well.
Two labels on one drivers side visor there is not have enough room for both.

    Any insights?

I had to go back and look at notes and discussion that took place in relation to sunvisors and labels. I've cut and pasted the note in its entirety.

The challenge is so many were removed and destroyed...few survived. As you'll see in the discussion that follows, there remains a lack of clarity of just how workers assembled two labels that are obviously too much for a single visor. One conclusion to be drawn, there is no absolute as to label placement and its consistency. As you've seen elsewhere in the 3rd revision, we added notes to caution both judges and owners when absolutism should be tempered with the realities of age and original configuration. Attachment 99240 refers to the photo in the TiMJG you referenced.

Circling back for these various visor labels etc.

I did finally find the photo I had of a "Push Start" label 360225 that was added in 75 & 76 (and early 77) for manual transmission cars. This photo is from a 3K mile 75 Top Flight car (I don't have any first hand knowledge about this car).

The AIM drawing shows this label and the Engine Staring Procedure label as both being attached to the driver side visor. They are too big to fit on the same visor without very careful placement and a bit of overlap. I suspect production workers would install them on different visors.

For 76: The Catalytic Converter label was added and the Engine Starting Procedure label was eliminated. The push to start label was still in use for manual transmission cars, and shown with the 2 labels on separate visors.

For 77: If you look at the AIM page that Matt posted above - you can see that on 12/9/76 the part number on the catalytic converter label changed from 554974 to 557269 (which would imply that my 76 photo above was the 77 part number?? ), the Push Start Label 360225, and another label 554839 ? were also removed on that date. This would say that early 77 manual transmission cars would have the push start label as well. Then on 7/28/77 these labels were all removed and that appears to be when the Sunshade Sleeve was added

Unfortunately I cannot open the attachment 99240.

Is the AIM drawing referencing a 75?

The paragraph For 76 regarding the Catalytic label is then on the Passenger side and Push Start is on the Drivers side.

However the Push Start label and Starting Procedure label can both be on the Drivers visor with careful placement with no or minimal overlap and the Catalytic label can be on the Passenger visor since it would take up all of its space.

Or Push Start label would be only on the Drivers side and drop the Engine Starting Procedure and add the Catalytic label to the Passenger side visor.

Several combinations can be applied unless there was production changes for each year that were not spelled out in the AIM or it was different for Automatic cars.

      A mystery.
