    C-1 rear brake hardware kit

I recently had to change my 59's rear brake shoes. When I took them apart, the 2 springs appear to be different sizes. They may be the original ones. I purchased a hardware kit from NAPA and they are not even close, i.e all 4 springs in the kit are the same size and the bend where it hooks onto the shoes doesn't line up with the post on top, Made in China. My first question is are the springs different, one for the leading shoe and a different length for the trailing shoe? My second question is where can I get correctly configured springs.

This is what the NAPA ones look like, but are all the spring the same length? From the photos the large springs appear to be a little different on the ends than the ones I bought

The OE primary spring was gray; the OE secondary spring was black. They are different rates. I don't think there is a significant length difference.

Well, if you don't like Top Flight's kit, there's always Corvette Central...though not quite as complete.

Lief, does the 59 have self adjusters? Paul
                It's a good life!

                  Paul,
No, those would be manual adjusters. Self adjusters came along for the C2 in 1963. However, there is a kit available to convert 1959-1962 C1 to self adjusting brakes. According to the InterWeb, all 1953-1962 C1 used the same rear brake hardware kit. I grabbed the picture off line. Link to an interesting video.

That is a mish-mash system. It has the HD vented backing plate, finned drum, and air scoop but light duty shoes and pull-back springs...? It does show the gray and black springs. (By the way, the HD pull-back springs are both a dark green color for the C1.)

Okay, I see the different color springs in your example, which would help. but the one I looked at on line are both the same color. I did check CC and Top Flight Auto and they look the same. Where did you get these?
