c2 67 ground wire below the glove box door

In the process of removing aftermarket stereo and alarm system from previous owners. Unfortunately, I a few chopped wires and I trying to figure out where the wire leads to. Specifically is the ground wire located under the grove box door. What is the ground for? I attached a sample to show the wire I am questioning. Any help is appreciated.

To add to my post, the clip is there but no wire on my car.

I don't believe that is part of the original harness . I didn't have one on my 67 in that position / probably an add on from the previous owner. Hope this helps Jeff

That wire was not there from the factory nor was a clip. Most likely, something from the aftermarket stereo (ground) or the aftermarket alarm.

and furthermore take some lacquer thinner to the vin and trim tag and remove the paint. and As Leif said that is not factory
