I'm ready to tackle this job. Have the threaded rod set up with the lower block from Tom Nowak. The steering linkage is all removed already, so these are the steps I plan to follow. Please weigh in if you see any issues.
1. Remove sway bar and front shocks
2. put the car on jackstands on the frame.
3. remove front wheels
4. Mine is a '64, so no brake caliper to worry about. Remove drum and shoes.
5. Loosen upper and lower ball joint nuts and the lower control arm cross shaft bushing bolts.
6. Install Nowak block on threaded rod with nut below to lock in place and rubber mat to protect lower control arm
7. Grease the rod and pass it through the shock tower and use two washers and a nut on top. Grease between the washers.
8. Compress spring.
9. separate lower ball joint from steering knuckle
10. swing lower control arm out of the way
11. decompress and remove spring
12. remove control arms
Thanks.
