    Passing of Reeves Callaway

Reeves Callaway passed in California as a result of injuries of a fall. 'Remember the Sledgehammer and those Callaways you could order from your Chevy dealer?

He died from complications from a fall in his home in Newport Beach, CA. Jeez, how many times have we heard that story...happened to a neighbor of mine a few years ago... great guy, he was a landing craft coxswain at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Be careful all you old geezers out there. (And that includes me.)

Don't think so Duke...he was only 75 years old...born in 1947. Maybe his dad Ely Callaway II who started Callaway Golf.

I think Duke was referring to his neighbor, not Mr. Callaway.

CDC accidental death data for 2020 (excludes heart disease; cancer; etc.)

I was actually shocked that poisoning deaths were so high - double those for FALLS !
I was also shocked that Falls just barely outstrip vehicular deaths
Sorry the image is so small and hard to read - I couldn't get to go any bigger

PS - Speculation on my part - and now that I think about what I said above, it's certainly sad to say, but I'm guessing lots of those poisoning deaths probably include drug overdoses

And I am guessing that those who died of non-drug od's were married men or that is what my wife told me.

                  Re: Passing of Reeves Callaway

I think mortality data shows that single (probably including divorced and not remarried) men are outlived by married men. I have no doubt that my mom added at least five, if not ten years to my dad's life.

The chart was tough to see, but I didn't see "beer overdoses" as a cause of death, so I guess something else will do me in.

                    Duke,

The chart Mark posted is for unintentional injuries. Alcohol consumption should probably be listed on the intentional injury chart.
