    C2 205-70R15H Tire

The number of choices for a 205-70R15H tire that's appropriate for an occasionally tracked C2 seems to be getting pretty small. Anyone have experience with the current Uniroyal Tiger Paw A/S DT 205-70R15 96H?
    Thank you

When you say "tracked" are you talking about drag racing, parking lot autocross, or big track hot lapping? What tires are you currently running?

Big track hot lapping. Currently running 205-70R15 95V Michelin Energy MXV4. They look great, but I bought and installed them 20+ years ago. Thanks for responding.

I'm surprised they still look good. Typical rock hard compound all season tires won't provide very good grip and usually won't last long because they will overheat and start chunking if used to hot lap big race tracks.

The best track tire is the Avon CR6ZZ, and the 205/70R-15 should be used rather than the 215/70 because the 215/70's tread may be too wide, but the 205/60 is only 0.1" shorter. They are honest DOT legal treaded racing tires with a wear rating of 80. They will provide 1g type braking and lateral grip on road or track.

They may be disappearing as the UK plant where they are manufactured at will close this year. They are also very expensive, but the best always is!

Somewhat less expensive alternatives are the Vredestein Sprint Classic (wear rating 220) and Dunlop Sport classic (don't recall the wear rating), and if you choose these go with the 215/70VR-15.

Of course all of the above have a spiral wound nylon cap belt, which will keep the tire from disintegrating in the event of an internal failure with speed ratings of H, V, or W.

Thanks Duke. The reason they look so good is they probably have less than 4,000 miles on them and they spend the rest of the time on a covered car in a climate controlled building.
