    67 amp gauge is pulsating

My amp gauge pulsates aggressively between 0 and 20 amps while driving or idling. At times is pulsates (flicks) so quickly you can hardly see the needle. I don't know if the gauge is going bad or if there is another problem that I can repair.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Lawrence

My first thought is a faulty voltage regulator.

      Lawrence,

Page 2-24 of my Shop Manual (Troubleshooting) - all the way at the bottom lists this:
      EXCESSIVE AMMETER FLUCTUATION
Possible Cause: - (a) High resistance in the alternator and voltage regulator circuit
Corrective action: clean and tighten all connections as necessary.

They don't say this, but some of the more troublesome ones to deal with IMO would be the concealed female ends of the bayonet connectors and bulkhead connector block.

There are a bunch of other items above that and on the previous page.
      thx,
      Mark

Thanks guys! Very helpful info. Mark, thanks for the reference to the Shop Manual. The car and manual are with me so I will refer to that as well, can clean up connections. Will report back.
