1963 Borg Warner T-10 ID tag

During a recent Regional Flight Judging it was noted that my Borg Warner T-10 4speed transmission was missing the metal tag on the drivers side cover connected to one of the bolts. My car is a 300hp 4 speed, built the 4th week of March 63 VIN less than 12,000. I see that you can buy a reproduction tag from the vendors that have the part number (3839724W) stamped on the tag. When I searched the forum I have seen some discussion of a two digit Alpha Character being used instead of the complete part number. It was unclear from the discussions if these two digits tags were used for transmissions produced in 1962. My transmission is dated WC1131 (Warner March 11, 1963 shift 1). Any help for clarification would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Steve

Steve, Yes, the metal tag should be stamped Q Q (I think) for your 1963 wide ratio T-10.

The embossed ID tag would depend on the assembly part number of your trans.
If 3792621 it would be A-A, if 3819115 it would be Q-Q, If 3839724 it should read A-M. All 3 are 1st gear ratio 2.54 the difference comes in on shifter lever usage and brg, assy clutch gear usage. 2 digit embossed tags were used in '62.

Seems like I need to do a little more research and need a little more help. I have a casting date of 12-12-62 on the removable 9 bolt side cover of the transmission at the bottom is stamped with WC1131 and below this stamped number is a VIN derived number. So, can assume this should be a 2 digit tag because of the casting date of 12-12-62? Can I determine the assembly part number without opening up the transmission with everything assembled on the car? Once that is determined where would one find a two digit id tag?
