Congratulations to Terry McManmon, Mark Donnally, and Brad Hillhouse for their Bloomington Gold "Benchmark" awards last Saturday June 3rd. NCRS doesn't have a name for a combination Bowtie/Crossed Flags and Top Flight (95% level) car. Bloomington Gold recognizes this rare combination with "Benchmark". Think of these cars as unrestored "time capsules"
Terry McManmon's 2023 Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic Z06 was on prominent display at The Bone Student Center, campus of Illinois State University, Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. Terry's was one of eighteen Z06's inducted into this year's - The Great Hall, Bloomington Gold Certified. Could stand corrected, but I believe his car is now the lowest mileage Benchmark car.
Mark Donnally's 1989 Dark Red Metallic ZR1 is a GM Engineering prototype. ZR1 sales ran from 1990 thru 1995. Don't know the story how this one got away from Chevrolet. Of interest are changes between it and what eventually became production. What fun those engineers would have had with a LT5 under-hood and "TUNED PORT INJECTION" side panels for disguise! Looks like this car was #34 assembled in April 1989. Windshield decodes to December 1988. Other components have similar early dates. Outstanding condition - a Benchmark time capsule.
