    PV woes at Altoona

IMG_2891.jpegWell nothing has changed in 19 yrs since my last and 2nd PV outing back in 2004.
I failed the 1st time in 2003 on some very minor items but was rewarded when then team leader Vinnie offered to complete the rest of the test. Wonderful - why not. Maybe also to bring me back from being “crushed”. Going home I had a list. This wasnt going to happen again. I got it the next year but still had a few glitches from the trailer ride but Dave H said “I’m going for lunch- be ready to go when I get back”. I was. We did.
Fast forward to today thinking a C-5 should be a cake walk, not so. We did the PV test a few times at home and got to learn the car better from a manual standpoint and everything seemed great. The weather forecast looked great on the upcoming weekend so off we went. No trailer and no back up buddie on my 9,000 Mile original tires.
Just after lunch TL Allan arrives and we start. A few items now appeared to give me a pause. I had to remember to STOP, PAUSE & THINK it worked before when not under pressure. How to get the soft top undone, changing radio and music dics, door alarm settings, seat memory settings, etc, etc. “But this is My Wife’s car” was not going to work.
AND we are still in the garage. Moral of the story is know your car, have someone preferably not invested in its ownership work with you as much as possible to prepare you for this exercise. They don’t give the PV Award away, the car and presenter has to earn it. C-1’s & C-2’s I think are not as complicated. MHO.
Thank you Vinnie, Dave, Allan and Pete for helping me achieve this goal and for all you do for our hobby.
French Lick hopefully is easier but it’s 2xs the driving distance. Make friends with someone that’s done it works too. Wonderful show and effort by the Pittsburg folks should also be mentioned.
