Good morning. I have a 72 coupe and I'm looking for an answer. This is, at one time this car was stolen and the ID tag was removed fron the left w/s piller. Now the original number has been place on the left door forward frame. How much of a hit does this take at a judging? This car is 95% original according to the number and build sheets. Thanks

Re: id plate question
Stephen,
Per the NCRS Judging Reference manual 9th Edition:
"The car must have the properly attached appropriate Chevrolet factory Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plate,
or an attached valid state-approved replacement I.D. plate that matches title and/or registration."
[Section 2; Paragraph 1 - Page 16]
So your answer is, no hit at all - as long as the door frame tag is a state-issued replacement.
If the door frame tag is actually the original tag which was formerly inside the windshield frame,
with no record of being authorized by the state, that's going to be a whole different issue and likely a difficulty.B.D.

Re: id plate question
Hopefully the trim tag is in place to confirm the color and interior codes. There could also be a tank sticker to help with engine configuration since the engine is no longer coded in the replacement VIN.- Top
