judging question on front license plate bracket for 69 L46

wrapping up some loose ends on my 69 L46. I have the front license plate bracket but it is not installed. This is a Pa car and Pa does not have a front license plate. Only rear. Can I leave that ugly thing off the car since no Pa dealer would have ever installed it in Pa, even in 1969? I can just bring it with me.

    What say you?

    Thanks,

    Rich

Hello Richard, judging standard is as it left St. Louis, not the dealer. If you’re not getting it judged then I would leave it off.

Actually the standard is as produced by St Louis WITH normal dealer prep. Sorry I can't answer your bracket question.

        Rich,

As delivered in Pennsylvania in 1969 (and to this day BTW) there is no front license plate required or issued by the PA DOT.

That being said, leave it off - or, as I did - put it on w/ a nice NCRS plate you can get from the NCRS store.
        thx,
        Mark

The front license plate bracket was installed at St. Louis without regard as to whether the state the car was to be delivered to utilized front license plates. So, as built, the bracket was there.

What might confuse some is that many later model cars were supplied with a bracket not factory installed on the car and to be installed if necessary by the dealer or owner. That's not the way it was in 1969, though.

Thanks guys. I put it on yesterday, even though I still think it's ugly. I'll try to cover it up some with an NCRS plate as Mark suggested.

Yeah Rich, I think it kinda dresses up the front a bit with that red, white, blue and black...
