    Fuel line connector

Can someone post a picture of the "connector" GM # 187343 that connects to the "out" going threaded hole on a 40083 fuel pump and attaches to the chrome fuel line that runs to the filter. A description of the connector would be appreciated as well - is it brass, zinc plated iron or chrome plated? Any identifying marks on it - and what are the sizes of the male and female threads. This is for a 64 L76 engine if it makes a difference.

    Thanks.

I can't post a picture as I do not have one of these. This piece is a VERY old GM part number and was discontinued without supersession in 1984.

I can tell you this about it according to GM:

    material----brass

    tube size----5/16"

    external thread----1/4-18

    internal thread----1/2-20

Alan, thank you! Question - are there any identifying MFRG marks or some logo on the flat areas of the hex - that you can see or, are they just plain smooth brass? I ordered one from ZIP - hasn't arrived yet. Thanks again.

New subject - your fuel pump - I can see what appears to be small white flakes, like mold materializing on the top half of your pump - mime is doing the same thing, it doesn't rub off easy - what is that?????

Markings are a capital W with an arrow going through it.

Well that is unique! Thanks Alan. I have one on the way from ZIP - it has some kind of markings on it but can't make it out from the pic on the ZIP website. Will post a pic when it arrives. Thanks again.

The fitting I ordered from ZIP arrived. $5.99 + shipping. Functionally, it is correct - I am sure it will work. Appearance, not so sure. It has an MFGR marking on one flat side. It says "EATON 326". See the attached pick.

I did a quick internet search for "Eaton brass fittings" - HOLY FITTING! Eaton appears to be one of the largest manufacturers of all kinds of brass fittings, got dozens of hits. Eaton is a huge international company, they make a lot of stuff. I don't know if these fittings are made in the USA or not - probably doesn't matter, the quality looks pretty good.

Then...... I saw a bunch of links for "Eaton Weatherhead" fittings, WEATHERHEAD, as in "W"! I did more searching, this time for "vintage Weatherhead fittings" - got many hits, mostly on E Bay - sellers with old Weatherhead brass fittings for sale, all with the W and the arrow through the W. My guess is that Eaton acquired Weatherhead sometime in the past. Did not find a fitting that would work on my fuel pump with a W and arrow. Ya learn something new every day.

                  Ed,
Talked to an old timer at Eaton, he remembers the logo which is called "flying W" around the 1960 time frame.
Had more to say however that comment never got posted - hope it does now?
