Best kind of motor oil to use for my 1967 327/350

Looking for information as to which kind of oil to use to add oil and change the oil for my 67 small block.

Anny advice would be helpful, thank you.

Look at the restoration documents "sticky" and go down the list to find the engine oil article.

I typed "oil" into the search box at the top right of the page and got the following response:

"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

Perhaps you could offer some more specific advice to the OP. He did not indicate if he followed my simple recommendation.

            Duke,

My biggest beef with the TDB is the inability to search using 2 and 3 letter search terms or combinations of one or much such terms. So, all of these searches will be fruitless:

            Oil
            Oil pan
            Oil cap
            Gas
            Nut
            TI amp
            66 L79
            Tie rod
            P01 vs P02

You're right, searching "oil" doesn't work. My apologies to the OP for assuming this would pull up the scores of threads on this topic. I tried "oil recommendation" (include the quotes) and that found a few threads, but there are many more. So either get creative with search terms the system likes and/or read your article in the sticky list.

I agree the search function should be improved.

I can't explain why, but i entered "motor oil in the search box, and got many pages of return, with all the previous pertinent threads.

I hear your frustration, and I feel it too, however, with "motor oil in the search box, the "keywords" searched says "motor oil".
and the first page of many response pages is filled with such threads as Rotella Oil, L79 engine oil..., Best engine oil, and etc.
It very much seems like, because of the single quote mark and the two words, the threads sought were presented.

Try it, and see what you get. "motor oil and perhaps, "engine oil

I understand that the search function is not user friendly.. No argument there.. And I don't know if double quotes and * help either.
But I found that single quote and the two words revealed all the desired threads on oil as requested by OP..
                        "motor oil worked.

Yes, using double quotes and the wildcard * can solve some of the search frustrations. But some people don’t know that and they think a TDB search should work like a standard Google search.

                          Gary
It may be easier to use any Web search engine: "engine oil for vintage corvettes"

The quotes should cause the search engine to look for the specific phase, and the engine oil article should be at the top of the list below the paid ad links.

Forehand search 10W30 Lots of info

                              FYI

Searching using very few letters. The fewer letters you have in a search, the greater the number of result. The downside will be search results that are unrelated to what you are looking for. The way around it is to add an asterisk to the end of the search term. Oil* Will work, but you will end up with a lot. A better search would be Engine Oil or Motor Oil.

FYI, be prepared for lots of opinions and if you venture outside of the forum, lots of smoke an mirror claims. Duke’s posts on this subject are probably the best ones to read because they stress the relevance of American Petroleum Institute rating standards which takes all of the subjectivity out of the decision.
