Hello, can anyone give me the current recommended source for the original style, AGM restoration batteries? I would like to purchase a Delco DC12 battery for my 1966. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions, John

Re: AGM Restoration Batteries
John,
As far as I know there is only one manufacturer left producing restoration batteries and that's Jim's Battery Mfg. They, also, supply The Battery Mall with restoration batteries. I understand there is quite a long wait to get one of their batteries.

Re: AGM Restoration Batteries
John,
I just got one from Jim's for my 67
the bad news is it took 1/2 year to get it from the time I ordered it
I each time I called, all I got told was,,,,30 more days,,,,,30 more days on and on
than at the six month they sent it.
looks fine and works well so far, it has been installed now 35 days.

Re: AGM Restoration Batteries
I contacted Jim's Battery about four months ago and was told the wait time, if I remember, was on the order of 3-4 months. However, what really concerned me was that the person I spoke to said that it would be well if I kept the screw in caps when I disposed of the pseudo AC Delco, which had just died. This, I suspected, led me to believe that I shouldn't expect the battery from Jim's to appear to be as fully like the old GM battery as the one dated 1966 which was in the car when I bought it. That battery (with an AGM inside) came from a company in Cincinnati, if memory serves.

Re: AGM Restoration Batteries
Dean,
Just out of curiosity, do those caps pull off or are they permanently molded as an intergral part of the case top? Of course the DC-12 caps screwed in and out but the question (although not VERY important in the grand scheme of things) is basically the same. Are they removable or "just for show". If the latter then perhaps I can understand Jim's person's statement that I should be sure and keep the "Delco" imprinted caps from my sixteen year old pseudo DC-12 Antique Auto battery.....and, I assume, use them on Jim's battery. Still his comment struck me as a little odd. If the DC-12s they sell have a provision for screw in caps then the issue is that they can't/couldn't source the caps but they had cases with screw threads molded in the top to replicate a DC-12?
