    66 Engine Wire Harness Ties

I recently had my 66 flight judged and am working through some of the issues noted to improve my car.

One of the points noted was that I was missing 1 of the T-strap wire ties along the upper portion of the firewall. Most of these strap to the hood release cable.

Per the attached pic of the section in the latest (6th edition) of the 1966 TIM / Judging Guide it says there should be 6 of these T-straps. There are two pix and some words to describe where these are located. The pics don't capture location on all 6 and the wording is a bit confusing to me so I was looking for clarification. I asked a friend and his guidance was to refer to my Assem Manual. Thought that sounded like good advice, but when I looked in my 1966 Assem Manual, it only shows 4 of the T-straps - pic attached below. Looking for some help from the judging community on the correct quanity and better description or pics of location for all of them or from those of you who have had your car judged and the quantity and locations approved.

    Thx for your help.

Check your AIM UPC-1 (ass'y), sheet D4 regarding windshield washer hoses ... you'll find two more 9422033 straps therein.

thx for the good detailed reply/explanation. The ref to UPC 1, D4 was the missing link for me. I appreciate the time you took to clue me in. Cheers

            Steven,
See if the attached 5 pics help. The first pic has two straps on the passenger side of the firewall, the next four pictures show location of one each for a total of six. These are from my '67 L79 but your '66 should be the same. NOTE: The "J" clips on the firewall ONLY support the hood release cable. The "T" straps hang from the hood release cable where indicated.

Leif, Great pics - that's a big help. I think I've got it now. One thing that was throwing me off was the two ties that are for the washer hoses and where they are located in the same area as the ties for the wiring harness. Between that revelation and your pics I'm pretty sure I've got it correct now. Next judging event will tell me for certain.

                Cheers
