Hello, I am helping a friend install new door weatherstrips on his 1959 and have a question. On the new weatherstrips where they mount to the upper front window post there is a metal tab with a hole in the middle. The old weatherstrips did not have these tabs. Is there a separate screw to mount these tabs or are they somehow supposed to push down in the post behind the felt window channel? As always, thank you for any and all help, John

Re: 1959 Door Weatherstrips
John, Yes most originals had the upper reinforced window stop molded into the rubber with the tab. The 1959 AIM(Section F, Sheet 8.00) shows the window stop as a separate part(#3736167 - Seal), as the 1956 to 1958 used, but later in 1959 it was molded in. I'm unsure when this change occurred in 1959.
Here's the repro you likely have there...

Below are originals from '59 vin 4208, built on or near Feb 9th, 1959.

The hole in the tab was to attach it behind the vertical door post weatherstrip. Originals were riveted.

You can tap the old rivet hole for a small head #6 screw to hold it there, as riveting a assembled door post could be tricky. Here you can see the Philips screw holding the channel and the metal tab of the w/strip. The tab is behind the very top of the channel.

Here's the 56-58/(& maybe early '59 version) of the 3736167 seal. Rivet shown upper right in AIM page.
