I own a '59 Fuelie and am interested in putting 15x5.5 wheels and smaller hubcaps on the car. Does anyone have a good source for reproductions or original wheels and hubcaps, set of 4. Also, are there any modifications required or do they fit directly on my car and any recommendations for best size tires to run, blackwall.

Re: 1959 Corvette 15x5.5 Wheels
if the 59 isn't being set up for future NCRS judging, just get a set of 63-64 rims which are 15x5. they will accommodate the poverty hubcaps . if you are gonna have it judged and need 5 original 15x5 rims, prepare to part with about 15K for a set of those babies.corvette specialties of maryland, now in so cal, has very nice repo 63-64 rims at reasonable prices. mike mccagh- Top

Re: 1959 Corvette 15x5.5 Wheels
Mike,
I have a call into Corvette Specialties, the owner is out of town. Do you know if the 63-64 rims 15x5.5 will fit my '59 corvette or will they need modifications? I would like to use these wheels with dog dash poverty hubcaps for driving and keep my original 15x5 and full hubcaps for car shows.- Top

Re: 1959 Corvette 15x5.5 Wheels
In the past, I had difficulty getting the GM replacement mid-year wheels (part number ending in 8080) to fit over 62 and earlier front hubs. Midyear front hubs are slightly smaller in diameter than 53-62. Wheel stud spacing is identical.- Top

Re: 1959 Corvette 15x5.5 Wheels
To your point, Mike, all Corvette wheels through at least C4 are lug centric (KOs excluded). So if you have a wheel with a hub hole too small to fit over a C1 hub pilot, just hog it out to be large enough. Your work doesn't have to be precise or even pretty. Go really big if you want. It won't matter because the wheels are lug centric, not hub centric.- Top
