      Sorry to cut in here seven months late however this is a very helpful discussion . . . does the question about the brake pedal return spring mean that '63s with power brakes did not have a brake pedal return spring?

      I cannot see a return spring on mine. After removing the power brake booster and clevis pin from the brake pedal, the pedal goes right to the floor (and the brake lights come on).

      I'm keeping the pedal up (and the brake lights off) with a bungy cord while the booster is being rebuilt.

        I don't have the answer to your question at my fingertips, but I can suggest you disconnect the negative terminal of your battery cable. Then, you can lose the bungy cord for the pedal. Also, a battery disconnect switch is a highly recommended safety item to have installled.
