My LT-1 had the later one piece ignition shield on it. I have the earlier version but my question is in mounting. There are two mount holes on each side. The brackets also have 2 holes that line up accordingly. However, there is not a welded nut on the bottom holes. Should there be with two wing nuts on each side or just the top ones? Thanks in advance.

Re: 1970 early LT-1 Ignition Shield
You don't say what year your LT-1 is, nor build date... So...
In mid-1970, GM quit using the LARGE 2-piece box over the distributor cap and wires. Around SN 9500 to SN 9700, GM randomly switched to the single top cover. For awhile, the holes in the stands had the nuts used in both the upper and lower holes, until they ran out of stock. My 70, SN 14544, the LH side still has the nut on the backside, but the RH side the nut is not there on the backside. GM did not change the part number of the brackets, just removed the nut, left the hole in.
My 71, SN 3,xxx both sides the nuts are gone.
Sorry for the sideways picture.
Hope this helps.

Re: 1970 early LT-1 Ignition Shield
Thanks Gary. Yes, everything I have read just confuses things further. I've seen brackets including NOS that have and don't have the welded nut. The judging manual appears to only show the top one. When I saw a couple with nuts on the bottom, that's what really through me off. Looks weird to see the bottom holes with no wing nut!- Top
