1965 Rear Spring and Trailing Arms Heavy Washer Finish?

I have compared my original heavy washers that are used on the rear spring and trailing arm cushions to the reproductions and they do not have the same chamfered/beveled edge. The reproductions came from the vendor with a clear/silver zinc finish. Is this correct or should they be a natural steel finish of black phosphate finish? I am going to have my original washers re-plated so I need to know what the correct finish for flight judging is.

    Thanks,

    James

James... go with the silver cad. Even if they were originally natural, it is too minor of an issue for a deduction, and the cad plating will inhibit rust.

    Hope that helps. Tony

Thanks for the reply Tony. Silver/clear zinc was the direction I was headed. The plating company here in Omaha doesn't do Cad plating.

        James,
Let us know which vendor is sending out the incorrect hardware (washers in this particular case). Thanks.

          Leif,

I'd rather not go down that road. I'm very glad to have the Corvette parts vendors we have and don't want to cast any negative comments towards their parts. I will say that the rear spring washers in question were the correct silver cad/zinc finish, but the beveled/chamfered edge was different than my originals and the thickness of the repros was not as thick as the originals when set side-by-side. I recently ordered and received a 1965-1966 reproduction knock-off wheel lead hammer yesterday. The hammer handle pipe material thickness was just a a little thicker than a piece of electrical conduit. All other atributes of the hammer were correct, too bad they got the handle material thickness wrong. I know it is a reproduction, but it could be a great item if they just fixed that. I will go about trying to find a beat up original and recast the head lead.
