When did CDCIF Judging Guidelines Begin ?

I was wondering when CDCIF Judging Guidelines began ?

Specifically in my case, were they in effect in 2003 for Regionals and the National ? (that was the last time my car was judged).
    thx,
    Mark

7th Edition JRM 2005 makes no reference to C.D.C.I.F. judging guidelines. Reference to "Matrix" Judging goes back at least to 3rd Edition JRM 1988 - that matrix is Originality and Condition based on judge's knowledge.

8th Edition JRM 2010 has a section on Originality judging that outlines C.D.C.I.F. judging approach. V37 #1 Summer 2010 first reference I can find in Restorer to C.D.C.I.F..

Note: Bloomington Gold F.D.I.C.C. (same criteria with a different order) was being used at least as early as 2009 - don't have a start date for that.

e.g. Appears NCRS' C.D.C.I.F. started out as Bloomington's F.D.I.C.C.. AFAIK Bloomington has not updated their criteria (I can't find published information), where as, NCRS has continued to refine C.D.C.I.F. criteria and teach that process in schools.

      Dave,

Thanks much for the detailed answer !
Yes, I'm now remembering the term Matrix Judging...

So, would the Table below be an accurate rounded up or down point deduct reference for C2 single line item deducts ?

First assess: "Is item covered by a Standard Deduction Guideline?".
SDG #1 Engine Block Cylinder Cases, #2 Batteries, #3 Tires, #4 Windshields, #5 Headlamps, #8 Trim Tag, #10 Body Color, #11 Paint, and #12 Body Fiberglass and Component Fit, all specify judging criteria - these areas are NOT judged by C.D.C.I.F..

Next: Those items not covered by Standard Deduction Guidelines are judged via C.D.C.I.F. (Configuration, Date, Completeness, Installation,Finish).

Each CDCIF area carries a potential 20% deduction. Issues with two areas, e.g. Configuration and Finish, would generate a total 40% deduction.

Multiple issues in a single area, e.g. two Configuration issues on a part, would be assessed for point deduction as a single Configuration issue.
        i.e. generate a 20% Configuration deduction.

C.D.C.I.F. guidance is provided by other Standard Deduction Guidelines: #6 Stainless/Aluminized Components, #7 Altered Cars, #9 Added or Deleted Options, #13 Replacement Parts, #14 GM Approved Dealer Installed Accessories, #15 Factory Recall Modifications. These guidelines come into play if you encounter certain situations when using our CDCIF judging process.

Especially note SDG #13 also covers a 100% deduction when encountering Significantly Dissimilar CDCIF judged parts.

Sounds like you're planning to have this car judged again. If so, it will be interesting to note differences between those two assessments.

          Hi Dave,

Again, I appreciate your detailed discussion and explanations on all of this !

As to getting it judged again, I think that's a no for now...I have had it judged 3 times under my ownership:
          • 2 Regionals (2000 and 2003) and
          • 1 National (2003)...
          • and the previous owner had it judged at a Regional in 1996.

So, it's been looked at critically by a cadre of veteran judges - past (RIP) and present - albeit 20 years ago now.

With the scoring and comments I have recorded in a spreadsheet for all 4 of those events, I'm just looking to put an eye toward how it would do under current CDCIF/SDG guidance.

With the exception of PAINT, I have worked thru all the big-hit SDGs you mention above.
Gradually took it from a 92.0 (no driving miles) to a 96.4 (no driving miles) at the 2003 National (2.1 more with driving miles to Hershey 98.5).

I already know some of those will be judged more harshly; and others may fair better depending on how many CDCIF factors were involved in any given deduction.

          Thank you
          thx,
          Mark
