    C3 Headlight Actuator Springs

I've read many threads regarding C3 headlights and adjustments, but I'm still stumped. I've replaced both actuators and cleaned all the pieces and parts on the headlight assembly. Everything fits nicely and operates properly...until I install the two smaller springs as shown in the photo. The car isn't ready to startup, so I'm using a MityVac to operate the actuator. The assembly will open "fully" but won't lock in position. Without the two smaller springs, the assembly locks in place fine.

What's the purpose of these springs?

I've adjusted the clevis accordingly to the AIM, and screwed it back and forth when I encountered this problem. I've even moved the actuator bracket back and forth, but that doesn't help this issue.

Although both headlight assemblies are in place, I'm stuck on the right side and haven't yet tackled the left side movement.

    Any suggestions????
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Re: C3 Headlight Actuator Springs

Michael, while I cannot answer your question specific to the function of the small springs I can offer up a couple of pics for you to compare to. These were taken last year when I had my HL assemblies out for a clean up and lube. They have always operated properly and stay in up/locked position. The assemblies are back in the car but I could get a few more pics if they would be helpful.
