Does the 1966 L79 have an HT decal on the right hand aluminum valve cover vertical side facing the firewall ?

Yes it goes there and there is also a 350 HP decals on both valve covers center below the fins. there should be pictures of them in the JRM- Top

How early is your build? This body drop image is from Sept 28, 1965... I've zoomed into the 'HT' decals on the HEAD.
It seems some people don't believe this ever happened... but crazy me, I have a different opinion.

Absolutely correct, Gary... thatz why I specifically noted HT decals (plural). People need to recall this was the FIRST time using stickers/decals... previously, they were chalk marks. The decals eventually transitioned to the valve covers, but I'm not certain of any dates.- Top

There are examples in later years of single letters used as in the HT example until the correct labels arrived at the plant. Usually this is very early in the model year, as you would expect. I have also seen other varieties of cut-and-pasted labels used once they went to 3 later suffix codes.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS
