Need some advice on opening the motor case for the heater blower motor on my 64 convertible. How does it split apart, as it does not appear there are any bolts through the case. Thanks a bunch for any help.

Re: 1964 Heater blower motor
Ron,
Did you remove the fan yet? Does your car have A/C? As I recall the non A/C cars have bolts and the case can easily be opened. I rebuilt one for a guy who had AC and it was more difficult (it was spot welded closed), the spot welds on the outside of the case had to be cut to get it open. If you have that type, you can use a few dabs of JB weld to reassemble it in lieu of tack welds.- Top

Re: 1964 Heater blower motor
Thanks all for the input. My 64 is a non-A/C car, but the motor does not have bolts holding the casing together. I took the chicken's way out and ordered a new motor from Paragon. Since I am not building a points car, I just want to have one which is reliable. In addition, hard finding someone to work on the motor; although, the local starter/alternator shop said they would take a look at it. If anyone wants an original motor, let me know and you can have it for the shipping charges from Idaho.- Top

Re: 1964 Heater blower motor
Ron, I wanted to clarify my above post, I went back and looked at another motor I restored from a non AC car (early 63-64 undated) and it too was also sealed. It had to be cut open to repair a frozen bearing. I have rebuilt several of the C1 motors and they ARE bolted together. Had forgotten that all the C2's are sealed. Sent you a PM.Attached Files- Top
