Hi everyone!
I have my steering system down in order to remove my oil pan to install a windage baffle. While I had most steering rods disconnected, I noticed that my idler arm (6" length) took a force greater than 12 lbs at the end to move it. Once in motion, I do not feel any lumps or high spots, but am just concerned if this was abnormal or typical.
The idler arm is a Moog brand, stamped "Moog Problem Solvers". I only have 3,500 miles on the steering system (all new components), but I can't recall if it was that stiff to rotate when I was installing new some 5 yrs ago.
The 12 lbs in a 6" radius equates to approx. greater than 6 lb-ft of torque to rotate the arm.
Thanks!
