Back In NCRS - 6 Year Hiatus

All: Great to be back after a 6 year NCRS hiatus (I got into Porsches, Shelby's, OBS Ford Trucks and Hellcats for a bit). Picking up another C2 and need some sage counsel if at all possible. Here are a couple of questions I was hoping you could assist with:
    1. I live north of Houston, Texas. Are any NCRS Judge's or experienced Members living nearby? I'd like to have them inspect a car I'm buying for me with an eye towards future Top Flight Judging. Happy to pay them for their time. I had a car judged before and the cars and people were fantastic. I'd love to try it again if possible.
    2. Did Chevrolet offer Goldline tires in 1966? I'd prefer putting them on rather than whitewalls.
    3. Is there a north of Houston area shop that NCRS folks use for basic service that they could recommend?
    4. On my last C2, I had Mr. Eric Freeman make me a steering wheel and it was lovely. I understand that he no longer does them. Does anyone still do it and can someone please provide a name?

Sorry for all the questions, but I love these cars and want to learn. Much obliged and many thanks. Best regards, Ned

Re: Back In NCRS - 6 Year Hiatus

    Ed,
    Glad to see you return!
Sent you a PM, to get you in touch with a Houston member.
The TX chapter occasionally holds a chapter judging meet in Houston.
The only shop I know of in Houston area is Muscle Cars of Texas.
They are south/southeast, but are Corvette knowledgeable and do fantastic work.
They also host those chapter meets!
And yes, gold line tires are 1965 and 1966 optional equipment.
    B.D.
