65 hardtop overspray on stainless trim? Or not?

Was the stainless steel trim on the front and sides of the hardtop installed before or after painting? I Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response, John. I agree, but I'm trying to confirm.

When I restored my 63 hardtop there was black paint under the trim. The same job number was on the top as on the body.

Yes, I read Hinkley's document before posting. It states that the hardtop shell was painted with the car. I also assume that the term "shell" means that no trim was on the hardtop when sprayed.

            Thanks
