I'm re-installing the power steering option that was installed on my 67 from the factory. However, before I can begin, I need to remove the headers and side pipes installed by a previous owner. The headers themselves present a few issues. First the clutch Z bar needs to be removed as it snakes between tubes 3 and 4 on the driver's side. Also, removal will allow for re-install of the PS frame bracket that slave cylinder bolts too. Probably why PS was removed in first place to allow for headers. On the right side, the headers interfere with negative ground wire to starter, starter access, fuel pump, (hence electric pump), etc. I have the original exhaust manifolds. The question I have is, before I start disassembly, are these manifolds compatible with a 78 454 LS7 with 6272990 heads. Thats the fire breathing dragon currently installed. Gary

Yes, the 6272990 cylinder heads are completely compatible with your original exhaust manifolds. These manifolds should be GM casting numbers 3880827 and 3880828.
By the way, you're making the right move by removing the headers. I would not have headers on any street driven car----NEVER, EVER. PERIOD.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
