I am still working on the integration of a base 350/290 hp crate motor into my base model 1963 convertible [came with 250 hp and no power steering, AC, etc.]. I am using an "old style" tach drive distributor with points.
I have installed a spark plug heat shield kit which included the lower chrome "V" shields and the two lower brackets for the plug wires that attach to the rear of the block [GM part numbers 3744405 and 3728953 per AIM sheet]. My question is whether or not I need the two upper support assemblies for the plug wires or can the wires run directly from the lower brackets to the distributor cap? The upper support assemblies that I am referring to [GM part numbers 3826072 and 3826071 per AIM sheet] attach near the intake manifold/cylinder head. Also, are there different wire supports that would work better?
Thanks,
Rob
