If you cannot find NOS, I'd give Gardner Exhaust a call.....

The 1967 Corvette Exhaust systems for the high horsepower small block and big block manual transmission cars both consisted of 2 1/2" front pipes and rear pipes" 2" outlet mufflers with stainless steel extensions The small block system had a welded in 2" section on each of the front pipes and our original pipes consisted

I purchased an "aluminized" 2.5 inch N11 system for a 64 - original small block, from Corvette Central a few years ago. This is a complete welded system - when first delivered, one side fit perfect - one side would not fit - assembled incorrectly. CC sent me a good replacement no issues. They went in easy, the fit is good and being aluminized, they look like carbon steel pipes that were extruded yesterday. Shipping is expensive - wait for a holiday sale - maybe you can get free shipping.

2 years ago, I had to shorten my header pipes to allow room for the welded pipe and muffler (both sides). I felt the expanded front ends of the pipes welded to the mufflers could have been expanded a bit farther into the pipes. At least then I could have trimmed less off the header pipes. These were a total "off road" kit from C. Central. These were the 2.5 inch diameter pipes. They sound really nice.

              Thanks all
I have looked at both Gardner and Corvette Central. Gardner is pricey and yes I would need to have the mufflers welded, another added expense.
Corvette Central seems to be the better price and no added expense for welding the mufflers. CC sems to stand behind their product, so if there is a problem with fit. They will replace the pipe and or muffler.
The question is which appear to be closer to original and what judging point deduct might I incurr?

I can't speak for the Gardner system but, as I understand original mufflers, at least N11 units had a number stamped into the metal before they were assembled - meaning the number is pushed out - not in so it would be impossible to apply the numbers after if you had a number stamp. Anyway - the CC system mufflers don't have the part # marking - at least they did not several years ago when I bought mine. But I gotta reiterate - when I finally had 2 correct units (left & right) it took about 2 minutes to slide them in and position them correctly so they didn't bang against the frame or fiberglass anywhere. The fit was beyond perfect.

                  Thanks Ed
That is reassuring. I'm leaning toward CC. Don't know what the lead time is. I'm not in a hurry.

Thank you for the offer. however I am looking for the stock exhaust not the N11 Off Road Mufflers. Very tempting!!

If your Judging the car be ready for points hit on the Gardner exhaust because they not welded close enough to the muffler, CC have the proper weld closer to inlet muffler both have great sound.

Danny, when I received my setup from Gardner the mufflers were not welded to the pipe. I needed to do that. Maybe the person that installed yours welded too far away?

Howard, I've installed too many Corvette Central exhaust systems to keep track! I've had less than a handful of issues and none of those were difficult to remedy. It it were my car I wouldn't hesitate to order a Corvette Central Exhaust system.

I understand Harry, CC are welded flush to the muffler thats what NCRS wants, but Gardner doesn't give much material to welded them flush without damaging the muffler may have to be a perfect welder you have a one shot at it and make sure its line up right .

If ordering from Corvette Central I would request that they package and pad the mufflers real good. I had two sets that the mufflers were dented that I had to send back. If they had been packaged right to start with I would not have had that problem.
