    L 72 427 timing cover seal

Wondering if anyone manufactures a double lip seal ?

Using SKF 23300 now with an annoying slight drip.

Thankyou in advance, and Happy New Year

Doug - I just finished assembling a Bigblock for my 65 L78 Roadster and pretty sure I used that number SKF front timing seal. Haven't fired it up yet so hoping there will be no leaks but let me ask a couple questions. Was the hub on your old balancer in good shape or did you have to use a sleeve? And, when you installed the new timing cover seal, did you add in a light smear of silicone to the opening of the cover?
PS - Sent you a PM regarding your L72.
    Thanks,

Doug, I had that problem. Usually it is related to wear on the harmonic balancer. Install a sleeve and I'd bet it gets resolved.

The repair sleeve is of VERY thin material. With the repair sleeve it's CRITICALLY IMPORTANT that it be installed "straight-and-true". If it's not done PERFECTLY you'll have a leak worse than before. A special tool is available to assist this installation process but even with the tool if one is not exceedingly careful it won't end up well.
