    Duntov Award question

I have reviewed the judging requirements and remain a bit confused. So here is my question as I am looking at a C2 to add to my current 1959 and 1967 Corvettes. Can a car be awarded Duntov certification if in Bloomington Gold judging, the certificate is marked Owner Declared NON OEM, Stampings Not Evaluated ?

    Thanks in advance, Mike

I would not look at the Bloomington documentation. If your block and all numbers are all incorrect, you will get a 350 point deduction. That puts your car as a second flight car. Thus no Duntov. Others will chime in.

As Harry says, it is dependent on what is not original about the block, the block casting #, casting date, or the three separate parts of the stamp pad. Many have been awarded Duntov without the original, born in St. Louis engine in them.

It is absolutely possible to get Duntov award without the original engine, that is not a roadblock

Mike, I have personally sent 2 cars through the system for Duntov awards with replacement engines. I also know of many more that have been awarded a Duntov. The VIN portion of our engine judging is 25 points. As long as everything else on the engine is correct that is your penalty for having a replacement engine.

Thanks to all for your helpful responses. It is now clear. To clarify my question just so everyone understands, this is a vehicle I am looking to purchase. Original born with engine is important to me, especially at prices in the market today. So again, very much appreciate the responses.
