      3M strip caulk will do the job nicely. Be careful not to cover up the weep hole.

          Hi Robert. Let’s see what others say, but I believe the sealant was used to close the joint between the starter and the flywheel dust cover.

          I used 3M strip caulk on my ‘72 small block. IIRC, application of the sealant leaves a small gap at the bottom fir drainage. I’m not near my judging guide at present but I think this detail is covered there. My car has been judged at Chapter, Regional and National levels without deduction..
