    clarification on Tops for PV

    Just wondering if one of the PV Judges or somebody could lend me some advise for my first PV attempt upcoming in Florida ?
    I have the hard top for the car and had it restored but have never installed it on the car . Do I need to bring the hard top and install it for the PV test or is just the soft top OK ?

    Peter;
    I can not speak for a PV attempt on a C2 but I did complete one on my 1960. If you have not, acquire yourself a PV manual from NCRS to prepare for this event. I believe this will explain the top situation on whether you need one or both tops. My car was a single top so it was spelled out quite easily. Read that manual, and study, study and study some more and check each individual item until along the way until you have perfection. Put some miles (many) and duplicate several road tests just like the manual states. Another point is to try and get your regional members to help do a mock PV if you have the time. I had a fantastic bunch help me. It opened my eyes for sure and certainly saved me. You can not over prepare. It is strenuous, but when you pass it is such a huge accomplishment to achieve. Good luck!!!

      You will need both tops, and I surely would not make the PV day the first time I attempted to install it.
      Maybe the 10th time.

          Hi Toby
          Thank you for your reply . Yes I do have the test guide and have reviewed it many times at this point but the answer to the question of one or both tops being required is not really spelled out in the guide . I am trying to get in touch with the 65 judging team leader he should be able to put me on the right track as soon as I hear back from him I will post the answer .

          Again Thanks for your advise

            Here is the answer to your question from the 9th Edition of the JRM. I suggest you purchase one (the cheapest book we sell).

              Don,

              If I reading the ninth edition correctly, it also states on page 26 for C1,C2, and C3 Corvettes that for PV... "it is not necessary for the owner to bring the hard top to the meet where their PV will be performed...". Regardless of whether the owner chooses to bring the hardtop (installed), the soft top is the one evaluated for the PV test. I believe this is a change that was in the 9th edition of the judging reference manual.
