Anyone seen this spark plug wire terminal ends corrosion

I'm helping a friend with his 67 427/400 car. We pulled the plug wires out of the distributor cap to get them out of the way and one broke loose and two others had significant corrosion of the terminal ends (pictures attached). I also included a picture of two of the cap posts where there is either a burned area or something else causing some part of the post to be chipped or something.

Anyone know what caused this? My first thought was moisture, but this car is kept in a garage, not driven in the rain, and not washed under the hood with any water.

by the way, these plug wires are less than two years old, and all the other terminal ends where clean with no signs of the corrosion.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Corrosion is caused by moisture. The two towers affected also look burned.

One possibility is these two cables were not fully seated, allowing moisture to enter and causing arcing.

      Thanks,

What is strange is that all the wires seemed to be seated and while the two cap towers show what looks to be burning the rubber boots do not have any melting or such.

Use silicone dielectric grease when you install your plug wires. Put some on the spark plug end and distributor cap end.

Could this be galvanic corrosion between the two metals? (Am not much of a metallurgist though I do watch YT videos!)

I was also wondering about galvanic corrosion, but it only happened with three of the wires. It is one of the better reproduction caps.

True that. Especially 90 degree tower boots.
