70-73 Exhaust tips GM 3974660 GM 397465 WHAT YEAR ARE THEY ?

My 3/70 300HP convertible came to me with exhaust tips GM 3974660 AND GM 397465 w STAMPED ON THE UNDERSIDE
there is a welded seam front to rear on the underside. The JG gives another number and no underside weld as proper-
I looked long and hard but finally found a set proper per the JG. Just curious what these are proper on ?

The tips with the part numbers and W stamped on the bottom were produced by Walker for SERVICE, that is over the counter sales. They may have been available direct from Walker as well. They were not FACTORY installed.

They are useable on 1970-1972 Corvettes, but will receive an originality deduction in configuration and date

You've included '73 in the thread title. However, as you may or may not know the '73 tips were a one year only style.
It is the same scenario for the '73 one year only tips. Nothing stamped on the bottom of the factory originals vs. the part numbers and W stamped on the Service Replacements. As you can see in the photos they weren't works of art. We actually had a team member with an original tip during the 73-74 Revision that still had the paper part number attached. Rare and not often seen, I would imagine.
