I recently had a question regarding whether, or not, 1970-72 LT-1 engines with 5 quart oil pans (i.e. non early 1970 and non ZR-1)were equipped with an external oil baffle ("windage tray"). A lot of folks are of the opinion that they were not so-equipped. That's incorrect. Most, if not all, 1970 LT-1 with 5 quart oil pans and all 1971-72 LT-1 with 5 quart oil pans were equipped with an external oil baffle. 1973-75 L-82 may also have been equipped with this baffle.
The baffle used, GM #3989075, was similar to the 1969-73 Z-28 baffle GM #3927136 which was likely also used for 1970-72 Corvette LT-1 with 6 quart oil pan (i.e early 1970 LT-1 and all ZR-1) except the 3989075 was shorter. The 3927136 was also used for all 1976-81 Corvette L-82. The GM #3989075 was discontinued without supersession in October, 1992 and the 3927136 was discontinued within the last few years. The 3989075 can be fabricated by shortening a 3927136.
I actually installed a 3989075 on my 1969 300 HP 350 when I rebuilt and restored the engine. A photo of that installation is shown below. There are also photos of an NOS GM #3989075 [not for sale] shown below.
