1963 Seat frame paint

Hello all. I have checked the archives and can't seem to find a recommendation for a specific manufacturer of paint that is as close to TFP as possible for 1963 seat frames. I have heard John Deere tractor paint semi-gloss or flat, but the judging guide specifies gloss paint. Does anyone have a recommendation? Also, are the seat height adjustment bolts painted black? Thanks for your help.

Just went through a complete rebuild of 4 63 seat frames and tracks. Gloss black on the frames. I used the Krylon industrial lacquer. I’m assuming you are referencing the internal frames, springs, etc. The track handle is usually welded so it will have to be masked off. If it has a bolt holding on, its not original. I grounded mine off and Re welded it. The part number tags on the wire part of the frame are not painted. https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/00264739
They make the same product gloss, semi-gloss, and semi-flat. Wear a mask or do it outside - strong fumes but dries within 1 hour for 2nd coat.

‘The tracks are 63 only and have internal rolling springs that serve as bearings. They can break into pieces and cause problems. I ended up disassembling the track and using ball bearings instead. That was a recommendation from another member and it turned out great. 1st one was a learning experience but by the 2nd, it was relatively easy.

The side bolts are not painted and should have a head mark. The bolts that hold the bracket to the body are unplanted and have serrated washers. Note that they are different lengths. The brackets do not go on top of the carpet. Just a few things I learned during the process. Not much info for 63’s since like many other things, a one off.

Unfortunately, the tracks are riveted together and if you decide to rebuild them those rivets will have to be drilled out. Are later mid-year seat frames also gloss black?

The sliders are semi flat black like the seat brackets. I have several pictures of the seats prior to restoring them.
