    I beg to disagree Mike.

I have yet to understand why there should be competition between NCRS and Bloomington Gold. Both organizations have the same goals -- to identify superior Corvettes, and identify skilled judges and judging opportunities to build those skills. NCRS has recently grown to provide more technical information and judge's training, but at one time Bloomington Gold provided those as well. Even today Bloomington Gold provides judging opportunities and learning experience for those interested in cars newer than early C6s that NCRS doesn't yet provide.

I know it is easy to say, but both organizations should not be in competition with each other because over the years there has been a symbiotic relationship between the two. Both organizations can be good for the "hobby" (such as it is now days) and good for each other.

BTW: I am not so naive as to believe my attitude is not unpopular. That doesn't stop me from trying anyway. I am old enough to know that both organizations started at the same time and use many of the same people to achieve the same goals. In fact NCRS has taken many ideas from Bloomington Gold.

Before I hear about profit and non-profit you should understand that these are IRS designations and have nothing to do with whether there is a profit or not. And if you think the pittance the Bloomington Gold judges get paid corrupts them you have a very low opinion of your fellow man/women. Technically that payment is reimbursement for a nights stay in a motel, but that was set around a decade ago and now days is closer to half of a nights stay.

In sum: I don't think the decision to attend one event or the other should be seen as having anything to do with loyalties. As Brian said below geography and ones goals with their car should have more to do with where one goes, although recent NCRS political events may also be a factor for some people (even though they shouldn't be.). We should all be able to rise above these emotions and be the best we can be for the good of both organizations. What helps one organization helps the other and is good for the Corvette community. I will quote again one of my favorite expressions: A rising tide lifts all ships.

They are both stronger together, by that I mean the existence of both helps each other. I do not think and never have felt that scheduling competing events was a good idea.

The scheduling of both meets on the same weekend was done because there were no other options with the venue availability. I believe we all agree that scheduling events on the same dates is not a good idea. Unfortunately a similar scheduling conflict will take place between the two organizations in 2024.

I am also sure most, if not all, of us would agree scheduling NCRS Regionals a week apart is not a good idea either. Again, location availability plays a dominate roll.

I know of several Chapters that are trying to schedule a 2024 Regional together, and they are having a difficult time finding a suitable venue within the available time slot. Finding a location for the 2024 Anniversary National involved dismissing several otherwise desirable locations because there were no indoor facilities large enough to accommodate the anticipated car count at a reasonable expense. When we used to have outdoor events finding a suitable location was a lot easier. Recently we have all come to expect indoor judging and nearby hotels, restaurants and entertainment. No criticism. I expect those amenities also. It just adds to the scheduling and location difficulty.

Update number six. As of today, we have 57 registrations for the event and nineteen cars registered: eleven for flight judging (`57, `64, `65, `66, two `67s, `68, two `78s, `92, `03), two for bowtie sign-offs (`78), six for PVs (`65, 2-`67s, `71, `96, `04), and two Sportsman. As a special attraction, NCRS founding member number 3, John Amgwert, will be giving a presentation on "The Last St. Louis Corvette" on Thursday afternoon, March 23rd. If you live anywhere in the West the Tucson Regional will be your best opportunity to earn any prerequisite needed for a Mark of Excellence Award at the 2023 Convention in French Lick.

            Hello;
Thank You Mike for the weekly updates !! Is there a schedule of events ? My '67 is entered for PV.

We can be at Casino del sol 10AM Thursday. We live 3 hours north. Should I be there earlier ?

            Thank YOU for your help.

                Ray,
Vinnie has answered your question about the schedule. Since you are registered for a PV, you need to contact your Team Leader, Dan Young, to work out with him when you should plan to arrive. Normally owners preparing for a PV judging arrive early so that they can familiarize themselves with the PV route and correct any minor issues with the car.

Looks like the hotel block is full any nearby suggestions?

And, I was wondering is there any place to store my car in Tucson when I ship it there for a few days?

                          Thanks, Scott

When I was there several years ago for a Mustang Club of America regional, many stayed at the Estrella Hotel close by, it was cheaper too.

                                Scott,

The Estrella Tower is part of the casino complex and I am pretty sure there are still rooms available there.

As to car storage in the Tucson area, you should check with Tom Barr to see if he has any ideas.
