Rear storage bin door retaining strap fasteners - 1982 (and probably most '78 to '81)
While trying to open the rear storage bin door while in driver's seat, I pushed too hard on the door and the retainer for the retaining strap popped off. Very frustrating. I knew I should have just gotten out of the car and opened the storage bin door while standing outside of the car.
So, I went to one of the usual large Corvette supply vendors and found that there was a kit that included both retaining straps (really thin wires with loops crimped on each end) and the fasteners for both ends of the straps.
The lower fastener that attaches to the frame of he storage bin doors, is black in color and is the type where you push down on the top button which causes the "legs" to spread.
I ordered the kit (even though I only needed one fastener). Sadly, when the kit arrived the fasteners were while, not black, and they did not have the button on the top put rather just the post. I should post pictures of the original and the reproduction.
Does anyone know where I can find an original fastener? I know this is a trivial part but I want it to look correct.
