    63 engine stamp pad question

The stamp pad on my 63 fuel injected engine doesn't seem to be correct. According to the Judging Guide the the sequence should be PMMDDXX but my pad shows F05TTRF, what is the TT about. This is a May car and the serial numbers are correct and the pad does not look altered , I'm confused. Can someone shed some light on this for me.

Sorry about the picture being upside down.

    Ed,

Those are not "T"s, they are "I"s which really represent "1"s

So, your pad reads "F" for Flint; "0511" for May 11th as the engine assembly date; and "RF" for the suffix.

hope that helps - others may have comments as well...

      May 11th was a Saturday.

Although not the best day but better than May 6th.

15334 would be a little after mid May - say somewhere between the 16th and 20th based on the month end sequence numbers in the NCRS Spec Guide.

Unless you have the factory order copy you can't ascertain the exact build date - the day it came off the production line. The body build date on '63 trim tags is only the week and month, not the specific day.

Well, old age is getting to me. Upon closer inspection and better light angle I see that what I thought was stamped TT is actually II which Mark stated is what GM used instead of the number 1. Of course they had no problem using the actual 1 in the serial number. Go figure!

I appreciate all the replies, thank you very much.

Ed, if you need to know the exact day the car was built you can order a Shipping Data Report.

C2 registry says birthdate approximately May 16, 1963.
