Well...starting back into my '69 convertible restore. I hate how life can get in the way of hobbies. In any event...doing a total seat rebuild/restore using Al Knoch stuff. Got the passenger seat out and starting to break it down. It is pretty ratty and my current primary question pertains to the tracks and options for those. Was thinking I could give them a bath in something like mineral spirits first to deal with all the grease and grit followed by a bath in EvapoRust to deal with the rust...then paint exterior I suppose...and lube the tracks as best I can. Sound ok? Alternatives...I found a vid online where a guy separated them by drilling out rivets. Another alternative is I saw some of the usual suspect retailers offer a track restore service but very pricey. Anyone done a seat restore with recommendation for tracks??? Also you can see the frame is bent in one place. No idea how that could have happened...but I can leave it as is or work to straighten it a bit.

If you're on Facebook, Stan's Corvette Restoration had a nice series of pictures Nov 2020- March 2021 showing the restoration of a set of these tracks, including riveting them and replating them in black phosphate as per original.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Re: Seat Track restoration
I "restored" my tracks like you originally suggested: cleaned them, dipped them in evaporust, then sprayed them with fake black phosphate paint out of a rattle can. They look pretty good, plus you can't really see them anyway...Mark Edmondson
