Do any of you have knowledge of or methodology, references, or "old timers" where by information regarding production slow downs and or interruptions affecting the 1957 model could be compiled. Problems at the engine plant in Flint or the Borg T-10 plant could affect Corvette output, etc. Thanks for your input. John

Info like that is in NCRS "Birthday Book". I'm away at this time, I'll look when I get home.
Peter Licastro's book, "Birthplace of Legends" about St Louis Corvette Plant, also has general information about "slowdowns" and labor issues.

Re: worker slow downs, strikes, holidays affecting 1957 model run
So, out of curiosity, looked up 1957 production. What follows are the number of cars produced each month, number of working days in parenthesis.
9/56 - 156 (6) Production started 9/21
10/56 - 424 (23)
11/56 - 490 (21)
12/56 - 450 (19) 1/2 worked Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, Christmas off.
1/57 - 630 (22)
2/57 - 450 (20)
3/57 - 535 (21)
4/57 - 590 (22)
5/57 - 606 (22)
6/57 - 593 (20)
7/57 - 660 (22)
8/57 - 645 (22)
9/57 - 110 (4) Production ended 9/6/57
It doesn't look like any major hiccups in production, looks like they were averaging around 25/30 cars a day on a pretty consistent basis.- Top
