I believe there were three designs in 1963. I think the last 1963 design lasted through 1967.

There were two designs of the short snout on the left side. The second design was to accommodate the A/C air hose. The snout is 1963 only.

There were two designs of the Y duct. The second design was to accommodate the last design of the inside heater box. The Y duct was 1963 only.

Mike, The 63 Heater boxes are unique due to the open hole at the drivers end. 64-67 are identical.

If you want to put a late 63 box into a 64-67 car you will need to block the hole.

For restoration of the box, does one just scrub it up? Or, were the boxes painted black?

John - any advice on how to remove the doors from their attached rods?

Ron, some are spot welded in. You need to cut the weld with a Dremel. After you restore the parts, dry fit them in the box. When you are comfortable they fit, JB Weld them in place.

Agree with Joe, if you are using a 63 box in a 64-67, block off that rectangular hole in the picture below.

Bob - I need to do a couple fiberglass repairs. Any way to create black fiberglass?

                    Thanks - Ron

John - nice job on the flappers. Either I misplaced it, or it was not included in my Paragon rebuild kit, but I did not get material for the gate you are holding in the picture. Did your kit come with that piece? Also wondering if it was split, as in cleaning out the old it is just tucked under the raised edges and does not cover the entire piece? Finally, any thoughts on what material I can use?

                      Thanks,

                      Ron

Actually no, What you do is mix black dye in with the resin. As a last step, put some of the dye on a rag and wipe the area to make the finish the same all over. If I can find the dye, I'll post a picture.

Ron, My 64 convertible is a fuelie, so my side emblems are different.
                          Sorry.

Ron, I cannot claim any credit for the flapper/door. It was part of the rebuild kit from Zip. I just needed to drive in a new shaft. The new shafts were still so tight, no tack welds were required to keep them in place. The “sealing material” is just very thick, black felt and it is sandwiched and riveted between the metal sides of the door. I think I went with Zip over Paragon as the rebuild kit included a few extra pieces/parts.
