    '67 Trim Tag Corrosion

Can anyone help to explain to me why the small area on this '67 Trim Tag has a bit of corrosion along its top edge? Common thing? It's original as installed by the factory. I'm not planning on doing anything to it, but kind of wondering how it may have occurred.

Are you referring to the divot above the "V"?

      Kevin------

There's corrosion on the steel brace that the VIN plate is rivetted to. It's simply spread a little to the VIN plate. Corrosion is like a cancer; it spreads, even to, and sometimes especially to, dissimilar metals.

          Yes, exactly that spot.

I will look closer at the primered brace area! Thank you, JL!

Now that's an interesting thought! It's a shame the original glove box liner had been replaced before I bought the car. You might be on to the reason why! Again, I will inspect the area closer for these clues! Thanks Roy

I've seen it more than once Kevin.

Thinking aloud... The cut in the upper boss looks more like impact damage, maybe from the stamping machine itself where the plate was not fully inserted or removed when damaged. The -V- of "DIV" looks flattened a bit.
