    C2 Hardtop fitment issue

    Guys,

I was given a hardtop for my 67, and having a hard time getting it to fit? Seems the PO of the hard top stored it for a long time on back of the top propped up against a wall. The deck lid opening is approximately 48.5" and the width of the top is about 49". So it's too wide. Is the top ruined, or is there a way to get this top to fit? I have had the top now for several years with a rope tied to the side mounts with pressure trying to reverse what the PO storage did, no luck. I have the top stored on a rack with the leading edge towards the ground. Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Lawrence

Do you have access to a really warm room since we are approaching winter. Like a boiler room or machine room in a manufacturing plant. I would get the top into the hottest environment possible. get a piece of threaded rod and and draw the corners into each other. Heat works well to get your convertible top to close after to long in storage it should work on the hard top as well.

      Hi Bill,

The top is under my house in a constant temp of around 65 -70*. I have a rope tied to each corner cinched down. I like the idea of a threaded rod. I will get one and washers, nuts. Not sure how to solve for a hot room?

If the top does not draw together permenantly with just the rod. Make a hot house out of black plastic and a couple of ladders and sit it out in the sun this summer .
