    How big a hit? The VAC is only worth 3 points - 2 for originality and 1 for condition.

    I recall talking to a judge who said he would take the full 3 points off is the VAC was not OE correct. Sheesh, no wonder some guys hate NCRS. Assuming it was a SMP-manufactured B-number OE replacement part I'd only take one for originality, and if it's decent condition they get the condition point.

      Do you have any data on the improvement on torque and horsepower curves for the lighter springs?

        No, I never did a chassis dyno test on my car, but I can tell you that when I installed the 365/375 HP centrifugal weights and springs that brought the full 24 degrees centrifugal in at 2350 instead of 4600 back in 1965, the SOTP improvement in low end torque was definitely noticeable and made driving the car (CR trans/3.08 axle) a lot more pleasurable around town

        And the 236 16 VAC kept the VAC locked at full advance at idle, so no more idle instability.

        The Mr. Gasket spring kit costs about ten bucks and installation is easier than changing points.
